The Look

Fashion for positive change

Each year, the Miele × Mode Suisse Award for Positive Impact rewards a particularly talented designer who sets positive impetus in the fashion industry. In association with this year’s winner Yannik Zamboni (maison blanche), the idea was born to create an exclusive, unique catwalk look and to give the money raised to charity.

The sales proceeds will be donated to Dachorganisation der Frauenhäuser Schweiz und Liechtenstein – an organisation that Zamboni has already worked with successfully on the “Tags Against Crime” project.

Even in Switzerland, women and children need protection that society cannot always guarantee them. In order to provide the best possible support to the organisation, all the sales proceeds will be donated to DAO, the umbrella organisation of women’s shelters in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The Look for Positive Impact

Trench coat, body suit and mask

YANNIK ZAMBONI (maison blanche), 2024

Unique items produced sustainably. All three items were created exclusively by the Swiss designer Yannik Zamboni as part of the Miele x Mode Suisse Award for Positive Impact. The creations were showcased at the fashion show organised by “Mode Suisse and Friends”.

Trench coat:
The outer material of the trench coat is made from 100% environmentally friendly Abacá fibre. The coat was screen-printed in Switzerland with a specially created print pattern using colours mixed by hand. The water-based colour is 100% biodegradable and was produced and applied in the TDS textile printing plant in Arbon. The trench coat is also embellished with embroidery and appliqués elaborately handcrafted at maison blanche in Zurich. The buckles and fasteners were manufactured in Switzerland, while the buttons are made from corozo – a natural, non-toxic and biodegradable material from the seeds of the corozo palm tree.

Body suit:
The body suit was printed in an identical pattern using the same screen-printing process. It is made from 100% GOTS-certified cotton from Greece and was produced entirely in maison blanche’s Zurich studio.

Mask:
A unique mask was created for this runway look by “Mode Suisse and Friends” in collaboration with the Swiss artist Nagi Gianni.

About Yannik Zamboni

Yannik Zamboni grew up in a small Swiss town with 700 people and has always stood out from the crowd. Very early on, he broke free from the constraints of the status quo and developed a strong commitment to inclusion, fair working conditions and sustainable, circular fashion. His aim was to create a world in which people are free to develop and where fashion does not have to compromise on social and ecological values.

In 2020, Zamboni founded his “maison blanche” label – inspired by his relentless pursuit of a better future for the fashion industry. It was clear from the outset that neither the luxury fashion industry nor the short-lived world of fast fashion corresponded to his vision. He decided to strike out in a new direction during the Covid-19 pandemic and after graduating from the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW.

His breakthrough came when he won the US design competition show “Making the Cut”, which brought him not only international recognition, but also funding for the first “maison blanche” collection. Zamboni nonetheless remained true to his principles: although the label initially entered into a partnership with Amazon Studios, he dissolved the relationship to consistently pursue the values of “maison blanche” and to retain control over the production processes.

Zamboni is convinced that circular fashion is the future. He campaigns tirelessly for sustainability, social justice and high-quality design standards.
